The buffalo chicken cheese steak was great 👌. My fiance had the roast pork sandwich which was awesome as well.
Morebread was good and steak had seasoning unlike the two more popular spots in philly
MoreMy family have been eating from here, before I was even born. I had my 1st sandwich when I was 2yrs old, that was 40yrs ago. I've been hooked since then, food is always good!
MoreIts been awhile since I purchased by roast pork sandwiches from George. As always their sandwiches are delicious. It was worth the trip.
MoreBeen coming here since I was a kid. Always great sandwiches.
Visited Philly all the way from Australia. Was referred to George’s by a friend and they did not disappoint! Had the best cheesesteak of my life there courtesy of (forgive if I get the names wrong!) Michael and Anthony.
MoreLove that tongue sandwich!
Pork sandwiches are Awesome. The only thing they are missing are Sarcone's Seeded Rolls, so the rolls dont get soggy from gravy. Just a heads up.
MoreBest place for cheesesteaks in the city. Definitely a south Philly landmark. Good breakfast sandwiches too!
MoreAlways fresh great taste very nice spicy peppers if it hot you got me their Delicious
MoreI've been twice. George's has some of the greasiest sandwiches I've ever had the misfortune of purchasing. It has a legendary reputation that doesn't live up to it's current quality.
MoreAlways a great spot to stop in for a sandwich or cheesesteak!
Great atmosphere awesome guys
Never stop in Philly and not grab one!!!
We walked in around 1:00 Saturday afternoon. No one inside or at the window. We sat down. The three people in the shop, acted like we weren't even there. Two of them were so close we could have touched them ! No "I'll be with you in a minute", " how's it going", NOTHING !!! This used to our favorite stop in the Italian Market. I guess times change and not always for the better. Sad !
MoreLove George's sandwiches, have been going there for years, glad they are open again
MoreFood and service is good.
Provolone and Broccoli Rabe aren’t just for Roast Pork anymore Dorothy!! George’s in the Italian Market!! I am glad I ended up near the Italian Market near lunch time!! I am glad I went rogue!! I am glad I listen to my mash up mentor J Cohl!! Sarcone Roll, Provolone, Broccoli Rabe and Red Sauce for dipping!! Oh yes I did!! I dipped it!!
MoreI’m an old “Willie’s” customer, for anyone who remembers the best pork and best tripe sandwiches that you could get in South Philadelphia, ever. I went here and ordered 1 pork and 1 tripe sandwich last week, just to see how they compared, George’s being the last place I’m aware of where you can still get a tripe sandwich. I was fully expecting disappointment. I was shocked to find both sandwiches were absolutely delicious! I came back the next day and bought 5 of each to feed my father and brother-in-law, uncle myself. My family has a new sandwich joint now. Thanks boys! Great job!
MoreThe staff was very welcoming and sociable. Prices were good for how much you get.
MoreRoast pork is very good, long hots are very hot and good, shiprt staffed but they do the best in getting your order ready as quickly as possible, worth the wait. No call ahead and cash only
MorePork & Veal combo... 1 of the best sandwiches in America!
3 stars because the food is good. Minus 2 stars for us calling at 5:15 (45 min before close) and the employee complaining that they might not be able to make our 8 sandwiches before close. What a joke. Employees have Horrible attitude.
MoreDisappointed by Philly's other famous sandwich
The only spot in the city dat sells these type of sandwiches ut used to b Georges and Willes Willes is over and iam soooo glad Georges continued even after the dad passed my deepest condolences tto the family anyway they just remodeled the place looks good wit the same quality of food which i must say is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
MoreThe best hot roast pork/beef in philly im so happy to hear they reopened. I'm 46 and i rembember eating Georges sandwiches every since i was 12. And now i have my husband hooked..we will be visiting for lunch on Tues after we cast our Vote..
MoreOne of a kind sandwich spot you can’t come to south Philly and not get the veal & pork sandwich from George’s
MoreGot a cheesesteak with hardly any meat in it at all. Also ordered a meatball sub which had some burnt meatballs and tasted bitter. Disappointing experience overall would probably not order from here again.
MoreLove the tripe sandwich and my kids love the cheesesteak being going to this place for years sad to find out the owner pass but the food still the same good place for a quick bite
MoreStopped here on a whim while exploring the Italian Market, and I'm so glad I did! Got the cheesesteak with American cheese, onions and sweet peppers, and you could taste the love that went into the food. Also tried the tongue and tripe, and they were amazing. The cherry on top is the extremely friendly and personable staff. This was my favorite meal of the trip, and I'd recommend George's to anyone looking for a true Philadelphia gem.
MoreI don't know what some of these comments are about because, I had plenty of meat on my sandwich! And guess what they take cards, so what are complaints about?! My sandwich was delicious!
MoreMy family love the PBR sandwich..
Hot bbq sandwiches is the best ever ..specialize in real n cow tongue...awesome cuisines
MoreRoast pork sandwiches were good. Sad when George passed away
I have been going here for years and never had a problem. Today the customer service was horrible. The cook an older African American man was very ignorant. I will never step foot in this place again.
MoreOnce great sandwiches, still pretty good - hygiene practices are abhorrent, even if it wasn't the middle of an epidemic, these practices would get people sick
MoreI have to say I am ashamed of myself. It took me to see Andrew Zimmer on Bizarre Foods to go to place in Philadelphia. George's sandwiches are fantastic. If you like lamb and other exotic meats then this is the place for you. I'm sorry it took me so long but it is good.
MoreGreat Roast Pork
Awesome food and owner is very hospitable
Great little sandwich shop. Authentic and the best steak with red gravy around!
Purchased a 5$ zep for lunch. It's big and tasty. I love the pepper relish. It has onions for days, salami, tomatoes, prov, and pepper relish. The bun is similar to Kaiser roll but better. Customer service has a nice townie vibe. Great place for lunch within walking distance from courthouse if you wanna get your steps in
MoreDo not leave if it's busy, it is worth it. Quick and friendly service. Prices are appropriate.
MoreA decent Philadelphia cheesesteak sandwich. It has been a few years since I have visited there and I believe their new sign is more politically correct (in today's environment) than the one in my photo is.
MoreBeautiful renovations, same great menu, and incredibly talented staff.
Fine food and nice people but they wouldn't accept cards even though their window had the credit card images saying they accept them. Didnt bother to tell us ahead of time either and no sign. Had to go and find an atm while starving and my food got cold.
MoreMy family been going to George's first 3 generations we love the roast beef sandwiches
MoreOne of the best cheese steaks in Philly. Not tourist heavy, which is nice. Here is the magic combo: steak, American cheese, onion, long hot, and a "diet" coke! ENJOY!
MoreFirst allow me to say my deepest condolences to the family! I have been coming to the Italian Market since I was a little girl and I have never!!! had a roast pork sandwich that is as tasty as Georges! I keep stopping by in the hope that you have reopened! I just gotta have a Georges roast pork...it's like the bestest!!
MoreThe place is located next to the Italian Village with many good stores. Their roasted pork sub is sad, bland, and greasy.
